The name DEBONEIRE is constructed from De Bon Eire, a nod to the French meaning, ‘of good lineage’. DEBONEIRE’s logo, the Paradise Riflebird, is a rare bird-of-paradise with enviable plumage, and epithetical of a man who is indeed debonair.
DEBONEIRE dresses modern gentlemen with immaculate fit, in one-of-a-kind fabrics and stunning prints. Known for its impeccable class and a touch of flamboyance, DEBONEIRE manages to tailor in its collections a love for mischief and a reverence for tradition. OUR FOUNDER

MATTHEW GIDEON

Founder, Creative Director

Matthew Gideon found his start as the founder and designer of menswear label, DEBONEIRE, in his pursuit of the perfect emblematic get up to express his individuality and identity.

Fresh out of high school, seventeen-year-old Matthew could not find himself the perfect sartorial ensemble embodied in a well-crafted hoodie that is playful and brimming with character – perfect for his sophomore life on campus. It was the self-taught designer’s search for the elusive perfect hoodie, coupled with his go-getter attitude that ignited Matthew’s career in fashion.

Matthew started customising hoodies for himself back in 2009. The eye-catching prints and great fit, caught the attention of his peers who urged him to establish a streetwear label. In 2014, with the encouragement of his family and friends, the enterprising software engineer at Nanyang Polytechnic decided to pursue his dreams of establishing his own label.

I designed for the person I wanted to be. I designed for my future self.

Taking the plunge straight after serving two years of military service, twenty-two and perceptive, Matthew established his label, DEBONEIRE, not for the person he was then, but for the person he envisioned himself to be. Matthew traded in his hoodies for impeccably tailored suits, academic pursuits for business plans, and boys-night-outs for business meetings. Matthew hopes to share his aspirations and confidence through his garments and empower other young hopefuls like him to pursue their dreams.

DEBONEIRE made its debut in 2015 with a collection of unique suits, each one promised an impeccable fit, one-of-a-kind fabric and stunning prints. Matthew’s unique designs are crafted in the likeness of the people he meets, their personalities translated into fabrics, silhouettes and prints.

Each piece a labour of love, it will all be worth it to see a DEBONEIRE suit bring out the distinction and character in a man.

Recognised for its classic designs with a zest of freshness, DEBONEIRE has since dressed celebrity fans the likes of Singaporean singer, Derrick Hoh, former MTV VJ Utt, Singer-Songwriter Nathan Hartono, Actor-Host Paul Foster, and television hosts, Lee Teng and Pornsak Prajakwit.
